About our First Lady

Miriam A. Moore is a native of Mt. Vernon NY (by way of New Rochelle, NY).  Miriam moved to Georgia in 2000 and is a product of Clayton County Public Schools. While in high school, she began working in childcare and with the support and encouragement of many influential educators, including her father, Miriam developed an intrinsic love for early child development and education. It became evident early on that she was called to help craft the young minds of students, thus her educational journey began.

Miriam Moore had the privilege of graduating summa cum laude with the first graduating class of Mundy’s Mill High School. Miriam Moore graduated high school in 2005 and received a full presidential scholarship to Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Livingstone College in December 2009. In December 2010, she received a Master of Arts degree in Education, with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction, from Central Michigan University (Atlanta-Metro Program).  She later went on to receive her Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) from NOVA Southeastern University (online) in December 2014.

She has also worked under the Department of Interior as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service.  She served as a tour guide at the Martin Luther King National Historic Site (Atlanta, Ga) educating children and adults from all over the world about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Miriam Moore is a certified Elementary and Middle School teacher, but takes a special interest in teaching students PreK-2nd Grade. In 2012, she became a Teach For America corp member and began her career as an elementary school teacher with Atlanta Public Schools.  In June of 2014, she became a Teach for America Alumni, but because teaching is her calling, she didn’t stop there. Mrs. Moore continues to work as a dedicated teacher driven by her passion to change our country and empower the next generation.  Mrs. Moore is a master teacher and holds her students to the highest expectation. She empowers them to take ownership of their learning by using critical thinking skills to grow and thrive. She truly enjoys planning engaging lessons that are both meaningful and exciting for her young scholars.

Miriam Moore believes that teaching is a God given calling and ministry.  She is a firm believer that promoting educational excellence is an expression of her Christian commitment and strives daily to encourage, equip, and empower everyone she comes in contact with. Mrs. Moore is a member of The Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society where she along with many women of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church share the vision of spreading the Gospel of Christianity. She is fully committed to her ministry as a Christian educator as well as participating in mission work through outreach projects. Mrs. Moore is happily married to her college-sweetheart, Rev.
