Faith celebrated it’s Women’s Day, Sunday, March 29th, honoring the theme, “Women Making God’s Mission Our Mission”. Rev. Lula G. Williams, the guest preacher, stirred up souls with a word from the Lord.

Led by chairpersons Toni Reid and Deborah White, the women of Faith participated in a year-long mission project celebrating the women’s role in shaping our world. The women participated in several projects including the Church Kitchen Cleanup and volunteering at the clothing closet of the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children, Inc.

March programming included a Prayer Service on March 21. Guest speaker, Rev. Merchuria Williams, of Shaw Temple AME Zion Church, described why we must be courageous in championing the causes of the less fortunate. Through the text 2 Kings 7:3-11, she illustrated how four lepers, destined to starve to death, saved themselves and the people of Israel by courageously obeying God by infiltrating an enemy camp. “When we make God’s mission our mission, he gives us all the provision we need.”

Women’s Day activities culminated on March 29 with morning worship led by Rev. Lula G. Williams. A special Women’s Ensemble was convened to nurture the spirit. Focusing on the crucial role God has given to women, Rev. Williams spoke from Esther 4:10-17 and illustrated that in order to make God’s mission our mission we must understand God’s plan in our lives, take risks by making difficult choices and operate in faith.
